DFK International has raised more than US $8,500 to support a project in Colombia which helps alleviate nutrition among children migrating from the bordering country of Venezuela.
DFK International has raised more than US $8,500 to support a project in Colombia which helps alleviate nutrition among children migrating from the bordering country of Venezuela.
The DFK International Women in Leadership (DFK I-WIL) Executive Committee chose to support Comparte por una Vida this year for its annual fundraising around International Women’s Day in March.
Member firms around the world held fundraising events, including a raffle, karaoke and bingo, in addition to making donations. Alfa, CBW, DFK Hirn Newey, Davis Martindale, Friedman LLP, JAHV McGregor, KMSS and Wilson Wright all contributed.
The amount raised will support Comparte por una Vida’s nutritional recovery programme, called ‘Stay In School’ which promotes protective and safe environments where children can access free education while recovering from malnutrition.
In a letter of thanks to DFK International, Lala Lovera, executive director of Comparte por una Vida, wrote: “Thanks to contributions like this, we will be able to continue working to provide the basic needs of the Venezuelan migrant and returnee population in Colombia.”
It is the second year that DFK International has supported a charitable organisation located in the region where its annual conference is held.
The fundraising is run through the DFK I-WIL Executive Committee and Comparte por una vida was chosen with Panama having been the location for the International, and North and Latin America, Conference this year.
Anne Brady, chair of the DFK I-WIL Executive Committee, said: “We would like to thank all of the firms who organised activities to support Comparte por una Vida which is such a worthwhile organisation helping Venezuelan migrants, particularly in alleviating malnutrition.
“We are particularly grateful given the huge challenges being faced around the world from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We look forward to repeating this fundraising initiative around International Women’s Day next year with a new charity and hope to encourage more of our member firms to support the cause.”
